Willy Wonka Backstage Camp

Willy Wonka Boot Camp If you love theater, but don’t want to be on the stage, this 2-week camp (1 week options are also available) is for you! Come and be a part of the magic by learning all about what happens backstage! Every summer Dream Big Performing Arts Workshop puts on a professional production and this is your chance to be involved in making it happen! You’ll be involved in making props, helping with set painting and costumes as well as learning about sound and lighting as we prepare for opening night! Bring us your skills and learn some more - this production can’t happen without you!

Dates and times this camp is offered:

  • 2 Weeks: July 31- August 11: Ages 8-14 (1-4pm)
  • Cost $425

  • Week 1 Only: July 31- August 4: Ages 8-14 (1-4pm)
  • Cost $225

  • Week 2 Only: August 7- August 11: Ages 8-14 (1-4pm)
  • Cost $225

A 10% discount will be applied at checkout for 2 or more classes.

Before and After Care:

Dream Big offers the following add-ons to Camp for an additional fee (please indicate which days you would like in the comment section):

  • Late Pick Up ($15/day): 4:00-5:30pm.


  • Late Pick Up Entire Week ($65/week): 4:00-5:30pm.

Back stage camp will take place at the beautiful and historic Athenaeum Theatre located at 2936 North Southport Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657.

What your child's day could look like:

1 pm-4 pm Sample Schedule

    • 12:45-1:00 pm Campers arrive and are greeted at the front door
    • 1:00-3:55 pm Prop, set, and costume making
    • 3:55-4 pm Clean up and closing activities
    • 4:00 pm Parent pick-up
Daily Camp Reminders

Please have your child bring a water bottle and snack to camp each day. Campers will go to the park for snack and break time mid-way through each morning and afternoon. Often times we have tree nut and peanut allergies amongst our participants, so please be mindful of the food you send.

Doors open 15 minutes prior to your camp start time. If you are running late, please contact your child’s teacher at the number provided in your confirmation email so they can let you in.
