Source 4 Collaborative Programming

(5-14 years old)

Dream Big will be teaming up with Design Dance and Little Linguists Academy to provide dynamic and educational full day programming for the "CPS Teacher Union's Day of Action Walk-Out" on April 1st offering a blend of drama, dance and fun foreign language classes throughout the day. Our partnership at Source 4 is also prepared to provide full day/week long programming in case of a potential strike as well. We are keeping our ear close to the ground so that you can rely on us for educational, enriching, affordable and fun programming and safe coverage in a nurturing environment for your children, no matter what the circumstances may be. Dates, Times and Pricing

Source 4 CTU Walk-Out Programming: April 1st 9 am-3 pm $75 (10% sibling discount automatically applies)
Early Drop Off: 8-9 am $10
After Care: 3-6 pm $25 (Even more fun-filled enrichment activities will keep kids engaged during this extended part of the day. Flexible pick-up times.)
If CTU's walk-out turns into a strike lasting multiple days, weekly base rate will be $375. Price will be prorated based upon the number of strike days.

Class Descriptions

Spotlighters

(2-4 years old)

This one of a kind class is designed for you and your child to explore dramatic play, creative movement, and music together.  Have fun singing, dancing, playing games and more, while building upon your child’s natural creativity and imagination.

Mini Showstoppers

(3-5 and 4-6 years old)

Love to sing and dance? In this class, songs inspire creativity, dramatic play and, of course, DANCE! In addition to drama games that foster creativity, self-expression and teamwork, students will explore the joy of musical theatre classics. We’ll have fun singing and dancing to some of our favorite show tunes and share a sampling at an end of the session informal performance for family and friends.

Stories and Showtunes

(3-5 and 4-6 years old)

Love stories, singing and dancing? In this class, stories and songs inspire creativity, dramatic play and, of course, DANCE! In addition to fun drama games, students will explore the joy of musical theater classics and storybook favorites. We will read and act out stories with minimal props and unlimited imagination! We will also have lots of fun playing drama games that center around our stories’ themes and have fun singing and dancing to some of our favorite show tunes. This class builds reading comprehension skills as well as fosters creativity, self-expression and teamwork. An informal performance will culminate this ensemble-building experience.

Literature & Laughs

(4-7 years old)

Jump into literature with this class focusing on Mo Willems' story books.  Explore adventures, emotions, relationships and conversations as you delve into the world of his characters and act them out with your body, voice and imagination!

Moving Stories

(3-5 and 5-7 years old)

Jump into a storybook and into character! We will read and act out stories with minimal props and unlimited imagination! We will also have lots of fun playing drama games that center around our stories’ themes. This class builds reading comprehension skills as well as fosters creativity, self-expression and teamwork.

Creative Drama

(3-5 and 5-7 years old)

In this class, students will have fun playing drama games that foster creativity, self-expression and teamwork and will act as a foundation for future drama activities. They will also work together to dramatize stories as well as create their very own. Creative drama activities will incorporate acting, music and movement. An informal performance of a student-created original show will culminate this ensemble-building experience.

Broadway Kids

(4-7 years old)

If you love musical theater, this class is for you! Come explore the foundations of theater with fun theater games, acting, improvisation, music and movement. This class encourages a positive self-image and helps students take risks on stage while building confidence on stage and off. An informal musical performance will culminate this ensemble building experience.

Broadway Bound

(8-12 years old)

This class builds upon all of the skills introduced and explored in Broadway Kids. Students in Broadway Bound will be challenged to create multi-dimensional characters who use musical theatre songs to genuinely express emotions and tell a story. Skills developed in this class will assist in audition preparation as well as build confidence for the stage.

Stand Up Comedy Class

(8-18 years old)

Students will rant, rave, and write to develop a short standup set. The focus will be on group support to help students explore their unique perspective on the world around them. Creative games, free writing, and partner work will let students generate material on the things they care about and make themselves heard. No previous comedy experience is necessary - just a willingness to speak honestly into a microphone.

Audition Boot Camp

(8-18 years old)

Get a leg up on your next audition with our audition prep class. We will help participants choose appropriate audition material and work with them to hone their skills while building confidence in a creative and supportive atmosphere.

Playwriting

(8-12 years old)

Transform your daydreams from page to stage! In this class students will learn the basics of dramatic structure through sketch writing exercises. Sketches will be discussed and critiqued to help the students develop their work resulting in their own 15-minute play. There will also be a “free write” at the end of every class giving students a method to discover and explore new ideas even outside of the dramatic medium. If time permits the class will work as a collaborative to develop a short one-act play to be performed in the next session.

Foundations of Acting: Training for the Young Actor

(11-14 years old)

Work with a professional actor to develop the necessary skills to build upon your natural artistic talents. This class incorporates theatre games, improv, character building and more. Have a blast acting out scenes, performing monologues and working with friends to create theatre! A great confidence builder on stage and off.

Jr. Improv and Advanced Improv

(8-12 and 13-18 years old)

Get ready to act up! Improvisation is a fun (and funny) way to help develop characters and scene work by working together and thinking quick on your feet. Learn to make it up as you go along while you follow your creative instincts using improvisation formats that encourage imagination and teamwork. An informal performance of some of our favorite improvisation games and exercises will culminate this ensemble building experience. Though we will continue to build upon themes and skills in Advanced Improv that were previously learned in Jr. Improv, neither class has a prerequisite to attend.

Audition Prep Class

(12+ years old)

Preparing a monologue for that next audition? Our staff of highly-skilled professional actors will share the ins and outs of auditioning as you build necessary skills to nail that next audition. Whether trying to get into a High School Fine Arts program or break into professional theatre, learn from the best to breathe life into your character and give you the confidence you need to give it your best shot.

Music Theater Performance Class

(13-18 years old)

This class is a great way to prepare for that next audition or just build confidence singing in groups and independently.  Have fun learning musical theatre songs, staging scenes, performing in front of each other as well as an audience and benefiting from group and individual vocal coaching.

Theater & Tech

(10-14 years old)

Explore many of the concepts of technical theatre in this class.  Create a lighting design, explore with stage makeup, learn about choosing, designing and creating costumes, and research elements of set design. Students will have models and mock ups to display in an open house at the end of the session.

Devised Theatre: Using Improv to Create and Perform in Your Very Own Play

(10-13 years old)

In this class, students will collaborate with fellow actors to devise and create their very own script. Actors will have fun using improv formats and games to develop their story, characters and dialogue, while applying acting techniques to their scene work. *This class will meet for 1.5 hours each week and will culminate in a final performance of an original play.

Scene Study for Teens

(13-18 years old)

Take your love of acting to the next level! Learn how to embody a character’s body, voice and imagination and play off other actors while working on scenes from famous plays. A professional acting teacher will help guide you towards the most effective choices on stage.

Scene Study: As Seen on TV

(13-18 years old)

Do you LOVE Lucy? Are you MAD for Mad Men? In this class students will have the opportunity to perform all of their favorite scenes from television through the ages. Utilizing the as-aired scripts from all your favorite shows like The Honeymooners, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and The West Wing we will discover what goes into some of TV’s most memorable moments.
